Nostalgic, No-Cost ‘NET’s Creamery’ to Debut for Juneteenth

OMAHA, Neb., June 17, 2022 – North End Teleservices, LLC (NET) today announced the second in its curated “Nostalgia on North 24th Street” experiences. “NET’s Creamery” a one-day-only ice cream parlor offering frozen confections at no cost, opens Saturday, June 18.

The pop-up event, located at the NET satellite office in North Omaha’s historic 24th and Lake business district, will operate from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., in celebration of Juneteenth.

“North Omaha has a rich history that we want to honor, reflect upon and help bring back to its vitality,” said Carmen Tapio, CEO, North End Teleservices, LLC, the curator and founder of the “Nostalgia” series. “NET’s Creamery is our current nostalgic tribute to the neighborhood. We pay tribute to residents and businesses honoring the past, present and future friends, memories and history we will make together.”

NET’s Creamery will feature vintage, café-style seating, 1950’s décor and a NET-employee-volunteer staff preparing free soft-serve ice cream, beverages and novelties.

“The community was rich with places to gather with family and friends,” Tapio said. “We are contributing and offering one of many places to do that during this 2022 Juneteenth celebration.”

Tapio said the ice cream experience was “a pleasure” to envision, and was inspired by North Omaha’s vibrant business history, including stories and photos of Omaha’s many Black-owned businesses.

“We are proud to have started and grown our business in North Omaha,” Tapio added.

NET’s Creamery was preceded by the “Old Time Christmas Window Display at 24th and Lake Street,” Tapio’s kickoff “Nostalgia Series” exhibit in 2021, when NET transformed 2516 N. 24th Street into a lights-and-motion holiday experience designed for walking and drive-by-traffic window viewing.

NET’s Creamery, situated at the same location, will allow visitors inside the ice cream parlor for a hands-on, full-confection experience.

In addition to NET’s Creamery, North End Teleservices, LLC is offering free public parking from 7-11 p.m., Saturday, June 18 (during Juneteenth’s evening celebration) in the organization’s paved parking lot near 24th and Lake. Parking is offered only as spaces become available, and attendants will be on-site to guide traffic. North End Teleservices, LLC assumes no liability for cars parked on their site.
